The New Year is Coming!

This upcoming year we are always trying to improve ourselves. What I would like to do is improve my blog with posts that you want to see. What questions would you like answered? Ideas for events? Profiles of artists? Photo's, pinterest, etc? What topics should I cover?

Life Change and New Career

Three days left at La-Z-Boy and I am feeling a little bittersweet. It has been a long a tedious three and half years filled with ups and downs. The joys are what I will bring with me and the rest I will leave behind. I have learned a great deal from my time but it is time to part ways.

Am I going in the right direction? Who knows. All I can do is try my best and roll with the punches. Of course I am filled with anxiety as I start out in a new direction, a field I know very little about, in a position I have never worked before. It will be a learning curve but it is worth it.

For the past 5 years I have been working a retail based schedule. Some people work this schedule all there lives and I commend them for their ability to handle it. The retail life is not for me though. It takes a lot of time away from family and friends and the strain on myself especially has been overwhelming and no longer tolerable. I value my time with my family and my new husband and the world I was working in before did not mesh with those values.

Now I will be working a 8-5 Monday thru Friday job that allows me to come home at a reasonable time at night, have weekends off and celebrate holidays with my family. It is not in my field but there are sacrifices we have to make to obtain the desired lifestyle we want. 

Now that I will not be tied to a company where I could not work on design project outside of my work you will be hearing more from me. I cannot give up design which leaves this blog as my main outlet for the time being. That being said, I would like to thank all of my readers for your patronage to my blog, and I hope you will continue to read and follow. I hope I can keep you interested and help you learn something new about the world of design.

Dedication Increased!

There are many things that I have been planning on discussing within my blogs, and I have come to the realization that it takes serious discipline to get things done. In an effort to be more available to my readers I will be working on increasing my dedication to my blog and readers. 

To achieve this I will be blogging as much as possible. I am not limiting amounts of post per day, topics anything! If you have suggestions they are welcome and invited. I am also not promising anything either. I work full time and am struggling to make this my full time job, so balance is key. Over the next couple months will be a learning experience as to how I can balance this increase dedication with my everyday life.

I would also like to announce a Call to Action! If you have a blog, or like to write I would love to have you as a quest blogger on A. Nieman Design. Please email me if you are interested in sharing your talents.

It's been awhile

Lately I have been very busy with work that I have not had the drive nor the time to really sit down and write for my blog. I have neglected A Nieman Design and I miss writing and sharing my ideas and projects. 

At work I took a new position as the Store Designer of the La-Z-Boy in Fairlawn Ohio. I have been really busy setting up shop and working on designs. There hasn't been a designer at this store for a year and there I a lot of organizing and paperwork to do.  It has made me exhausted when I come home at the end of the day. 50 hour work weeks are not fun. But finally I have gotten things together enough to relax and start blogging again.


I am looking forward to getting back to my blog and my etsy!

New Title, New Purpose

Today I changed the title of my blog. Since I have finally gotten a job in my field I have changed the main focus of my blog to Design. I will still have posts from time to time on my crocheting and photography but they will not be the main focus of my articles.

I believe that I am finally embracing my career and am going to use my blog to help aid it's growth. I plan to keep my readers informed of the sales, events, and new products at La-Z-Boy Furniture. I also plan on providing information on trends and news in the interior design world. I would like to try and use this blog as a marketing tool for my career and eventually start my own business through it( long term goal).

I will still update on my Etsy shop, as it is still a great hobby of mine, but I will not have the time to make it my main form of business. I had to choose between design full time and Etsy full time and I chose design.

I hope you enjoy and continue to follow my work.

CH-CH-CH- CHanges

Over the next couple of weeks there will be some changes to my blog(s). I have been think about how much time I have to dedicate to having two blogs and have decided that my available time and the time I need are not equal. I do not have the time to dedicate to two blogs and make them both successful. Therefor I will be combining the two.

My thought is to re post my articles from Design to Save the World on ANiemanCrochet. This will probably take a couple weeks or so. After this I will focus my articles on topics from both blogs. These topics will included but not be limited to Etsy, Crochet, Photography, Design, Art, and the Environment.

First before I start re posting these articles I will be reformatting my blog space. I will change the layout and decide what exactly I should keep on my blog page. If you have any opinions on what I should keep or get ride of, please leave a comment.

Hopefully all my efforts will be worth it and I will end up with a creative, productive and successful blog!
