Getting over myself

Lately I have been reading many blogs about starting your own business and how to be successful on Etsy. One of the most common threads throughout is that you are your own worst enemy.


I have realized that I am the one holding my business back. My efforts have been less that desirable to succeed in Etsy endeavor. Instead of sitting in my office working on my marketing, listings etc for my shop, I have my butt planted in front of the television with the distraction of reality TV interrupting my work.


I only get to work on my etsy shop on my days off. I need to start taking advantage of the time that I have to myself. My house is empty most of the day which is a perfect environment to get some blogging etc done.


As an effort to grow my business I am going to "get over myself" and set up shop on my two days off from work. Dedicated and enthusiasm renewed I am ready to work toward my goals!

Custom Order Catalog

I am really excited to say that I have official finished my custom order catalog and have sent it to the presses. To be safe I only ordered one so that if there are any mistakes I won't have six catalogs with afghan misspelled. 

It took me a couple weeks to get it done, manly because I had to fit it into my busy schedule of work. I am hoping that now that I have this new catalog I can increase my custom order business and be prepared for christmas.

Would you buy?

I had a thought yesterday as I was going through my old magazines. I wanted to try to find something I could do constructively with them besides throwing them in the recycling. Back in high school I use to cut up pieces of magazines and glue them to things or use them for school projects. So I was thinking maybe I will start cutting out items again and sell them on Etsy as scrap booking supplies. It would be a good way to reuse these magazines and you could use them for more than just scrap booking. I used to use them to decoupage binders and boxes.

But my question to you is: Would you buy them?

New Twitter Profile

Like many others who were new to twitter and wanted to increase their follower I experimented with different sites that promised to increase my followers. I signed up for these sites thinking that all I needed to do was sign up follow their instructions and I would have more followers. Well one site that I signed up for not only gave me more followers but also spammed my site. It spammed my twitter so badly that my account was suspended.

So after finding out that I would have to wait a month to rejoin the twitter community I decided to make a new user name and start all over. This would eliminate all the spam that I had from that site and help me organize my followers better.

There are a lot of things I have learned from my first twitter account that I will take to my next. Not signing up for sites that promise things without reading the fine print is one of those things. Watch the sites you use to promote. Don't get your account suspended like I did.
