How to Pull off an Eclectic Design
There are so many different types of motif's in this one design but yet they are all pulled together. How is that accomplished? The repetition of one individual aspect or motif. Gold.
The gold splashed around the room is the uniting factor in the design. Walk your eyes from left to right. Gold turn arm lamp with a trifold leg. Gold frame with a gold lamp for illumination of the artwork. Gold candelabra style urns on the metallic walls as accents. The gold trim around the fireplace opening. Golden legs on the coffee table. And sprinkled throughout are a few accessories in gold. Finally a golden hued piece of art that is dramatically different from the piece on the opposite wall.
Having the gold follow through in this way allows the eye to find a sense of peace in the chaos of the design mess thus making the visual mess tidy and with purpose. It creates a calming affect to have things or ideas that are familiar in value evenly distributed amongst the non-familiar.

Weeks of Fun!
Thank you for everyone who joined me for food week on A. Nieman Design. It is the first of many themed weeks coming up. I find it a lot easier to plan out my blogs when there is an ongoing theme. So until I get bored or lazy, which ever comes first, I will be theming my weeks on A. Nieman Design.

Psychology of Color

Week One of the Closet Challenge
Here are the first week of pictures in my Shopping my Closet Challenge. Now please keep in mind I may look really angry in some of these pictures, as my previous post stated, I am fighting a cold and these were in the middle of that sickness.

| Day One: Very simple with a pop of color. |

| Day Two: Brought the teal together with my tanktop and earrings. |

| Day Three: You are going to have to ignore the shoes. I wear these boots until I get to work where I keep my heels. I have a 30 minute drive and doing it in heels is not preferred. |

| Day Four: The height of my sickness, I probably should have called off this day. |

| Day Five: Have to admit I need to try this one with a belt to help make me look slimmer in the middle. But such a comfortable outfit. |
Just so you know, my days off of work are also my days off from the camera. Although I will be adhering to the challenge I will not be posting pictures of my outfits for those days.

Finding a Piece to Inspire You
Inspiration can come from a multitude of different sources. Some get their inspiration from a piece of art or a piece of furniture. Others get their inspiration from magazines or TV shows.
If you are coming up with a mental block on finding inspiration, the first thing I want you to do is look around your room. Is there anything in there now that you find amazing, a personal connection or is something you just would like to keep. Starting with your own place, your own room can be a great jumping off point. Picking a piece that you would like to highlight more in your space can give you multiple leads to directing your room. It can give you your color scheme, style, or theme.

One great thing about Etsy.com is that their blog offers lots of great ideas for room themes, and styles. Bookmark items you are drawn too and a theme will start to unravel. When looking through magazines start tearing out the pages that inspire you. Adding Interest with a Custom Ottoman
When helping my clients find the perfect fabric for their sofa's, I have noticed that the majority of my clients shy away from patterns on large pieces. One of the best ways to add a little pattern into your room without committing to a large pattern on your main piece is by adding an ottoman.
Our most popular ottoman at LaZBoy is called the Cory, with a lid that lifts for extra storage and casters to easily move around the room. I have made some visualizations of the Cory in some fun accents fabrics. Ottomans are great for solving your storage problems, adding extra seating and adding a little extra interest to your space.
