Soft Opening

Today I am doing a soft reopening of my etsy shop. Not going crazy with promotions and adding items until everything is sorted out. But I figured It wouldn't hurt to get things back up and running slowly.

Check out the updates to the shop and some of the items I just added:

Etsy Shop is Coming Back!

After being absent from Etsy for almost a year and a half, I have decided to re-open the ANiemanDesign shop.

There is nothing in there quite yet but will be filling up fast and soon. In the next couple weeks I hope to return some of my current inventory back to the shop. I realized I do not have time to work on custom orders so it will only be pre-made items.

I miss my creative outlet and want to work on more of my crocheting and photography on my down time. Look for more posts about when the items hit the store!

Afghan for Grandpa

At the Avante-garde Art and Craft Show, my husband's grandmother ordered an afghan for his grandfather for Christmas. I wanted to wait until after Christmas to post the pictures of the final project.

This is one of my favorite patterns to do and is a widely used pattern as well; Granny Square. Although the pattern is used a lot, the real artistry is in the color coordination, thats where you can play around and use your imagination.

I love to keep my afghans simple in color and pattern. It is one thing that makes my designs, my designs.

If you would like to custom order an afghan, no two are exactly alike. I can use the same colors as this afghan but the pattern and the square placement will be different. Yet another thing that makes my designs, my designs.

I wanted to explain this so you know what you are getting when you purchase one of my creations, they are original and a work of handmade art.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Avant-Garde Art and Craft Show

Yesterday was my first craft show and the first Avant-Garde Art and Craft show in Akron. It was at the Tangier and all in all it was a good day for me.  I had a great experience with my husband and we had some great friends and family stop by and show their support.

There were some glitches which I think would be expected from all shows on their first year at a certain location. We lacked wifi in our spot but luckily it didn't cost me any sales. There were also some lighting issues in the other rooms, but I think they will have that all fixed by the Spring show.

I am very happy I participated and can't wait to do my next show. In the mean time I will be adding all my unsold items to my Etsy shop. I am still taking custom orders on scarves until this coming Friday the 7th for xmas. Unfortunately I will not be able to finish any afghans or larger items because of other larger orders in the que.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about ordering my products or other services I have listed on my website.

What I learned From the End of the Season Garage Sale

November is the worst time to do a garage sale. (Well December and January are probably worse but I'm not willing to try one in those months).

Most people stopped by because they were interested to see that someone was actually holding a garage sale in November. Although I am glad we did it because we did sell somethings and ended up with more money than we started, the garage sale would have been much more successful in the Spring early summer.

Now everything is packed away on the one side of the garage so that come spring we can try again. And maybe by then I will have gone through the rest of our house to find more things. I also learned that I need to advertise a little more and you need to put an ad in the paper a week before the actual date.

Since I was recently unemployed it did help give me something to do in between looking for work, and the extra money was much needed. I also got some much needed crocheting done, finishing two circle scarves and a baby blanket! So all in all a productive weekend.
