Getting Rid of Stuff

So in the middle of everything getting extremely stressful with the up coming wedding I have decided that I need to de-clutter my life! Simplify things. Not that my life is horribly complicated, its more about getting rid of the extra stuff I don't need. What started my thoughts on this subject is our registry for the wedding.

After being together for 8 years we have accumulated a lot of stuff. Some of it has come from us buying things we have needed, other stuff has come from people handing down their old stuff to us. Putting together a registry of stuff to receive as presents is hard when you already have many of these items and many of these items you already have are in good to great condition. Yes some of it we are going to hand down, like it was handed down to us, but the rest is going into a garage sale.

After the wedding I will be getting rid of all our unneeded stuff. I have started separating many items and am finding stuff I never use anymore and stuff I have never used at all. Its time to release this stuff back into the world where it can hopefully be used by someone else.

I am hoping to that getting rid of stuff will add a level of clarity to my home and thus affect my life. Sometimes you just have to do it!

My boyfriend(now husband) and I lived together for about 4 years before we got married about a month ago, and had a ton of stuff already. Instead of getting even more stuff to clutter up our house, we chose not to register anywhere and asked for gift cards or cash. It worked out really well for us - helped us pay off part of the wedding costs.
